August 9, 2023 by Connor B Leave a Comment

Every few years, a new TV show captures the spotlight, often against the vibrant backdrop of Chicago. In 2023, The Bear, a Hulu series, took center stage. The comedy-drama follows a young chef who returns to Chicago to run his family’s sandwich shop after a tragic loss. The series has been a summer sensation, drawing in viewers and prompting many Chicago residents to tune in, eager to spot familiar landmarks. Here are 5 of the most iconic locations featured in The Bear.

1. Original Beef of Chicagoland at 666 North Orleans Street

The iconic restaurant featured at the forefront of the series is located in the River North neighborhood. Though the restaurant’s prominence has attracted scores of fans, the interior’s of the series are actually filmed largely at Chicago’s Cinespace Studios.

2. Water Tower Place

Unsurprisingly, the Chicago Water Tower Place makes an appearance. The Water Tower Place maintains its towering status (pun intended) as an iconic symbol of Chicago’s architectural blend. The skyward structure seamlessly merges modernity with historical significance.

3. Buckingham Fountain

Located at the heart of Chicago’s sprawling Grant Park, the Buckingham Fountain stands as an iconic landmark, exuding timeless grandeur and captivating visitors with its majestic water displays.

4. The Chicago History Museum

Nestled in the south end of Lincoln Park, The Chicago History Museum preserves the rich tapestry of the city’s past, and offers a window into its captivating history.

5. Wrigley Field

Home to one of the most beloved sports franchises the Chicago Cubs. Wrigley Field is a historic stadium that consistently ranks among the best venues for watching sports.

6. Navy Pier

Navy Pier the Bear

The go-to destination for seemingly every out-of-towner when they come to Chicago. Navy Pier is 3,300 ft long, and is the home to the Chicago Children’s Museum, botanical gardens, a ferris wheel, and a number of restaurants and shops. It was the longest pier in the world when constructed in 1916.

Bonus: The L System

The Loop the Bear

Shuttling an estimated 322,000 people everyday, Chicago’s “L” train can be spotted from all corners of the loop. The elevated line services the green, brown, orange, pink, and purple lines.

The Bear’s remarkable success is another reminder that Chicago is a city capable of attracting the best in entertainment and storytelling. Naturally, the scenic and dynamic backdrop the city provides is an invaluable asset that provides the character and atmosphere the series required to succeed.

Here at Pearson, we harness a deep appreciation for these 5 iconic locations. They are but a small glimpse into the many areas that make this city a wonderful place to call home.
